Our Story

Matt Burns founded Perftech in early 2021, to meet the market need for a new one-stop-shop of perforated metal products. These products are supplied to the commercial/domestic building & construction, industrial engineering, mining & quarrying, food manufacturing and architectural screen markets. Perftech’s focus is on ensuring the highest quality product is practically chosen by the engineers, designers and architects who specify these product solutions into their projects across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Perftech’s unique and exclusive product range, flexibility, service excellence, responsiveness, that is coupled with robust local, and offshore supply chain efficiencies, makes them a safe choice for your next design project. Perftech stock a wide range of expanded mesh, perforated screens, and woven wire products and can import as well as manfacture locally, so that the specifiers can be 100% confident that the products will always be available to the contractors installing or fitting these projects. Perftech’s forged grating panels, in both aluminum & steel forged grating are imported from a state of the art ISO9001 accredited mill in asia, and carry a broad range of high quality european made fixings, allowing the end user to fit the product with ease on site. Matt also secure the exclusive sales agency for the Metalltech expanded mesh brand in New Zealand and the pacific. These products are amazingly engineered and manufactured with the finesse you would expect from the north of Italy.

Matt and his team have many years of experience in the architectural & industrial metals industry, having previously worked in regional and national roles, giving them a good understanding of what each customers particular requirements are, no matter what the application.

The Burns family history is steeped in successful business with Matts grandfather being the first ever licensed real estate agent on Waiheke Island. Matts parents started “The Home Team”, which was an appliance dealership, which went on to became the largest appliance store in the southern hemisphere for some time, the business eventually sold, but still operates today under a new licensee ownership model despite the fierce competition from the big players in the industry and now trades under the commonly known brand name “100% Electrical”.

Matt’s father (Wes) stands in front of Waiheke's first-ever licensed land agency on Oneroa Beach, established by J. B. Burns in 1947. Today the island is home to many architecturally inspired holiday homes that have won numerous awards.
